Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Queensland Pickleball Tour?
It is a series of events held across the east coast of the state, for pickleball players of all ages and skill levels to play, compete and enjoy competitive action, not only for themselves but also to watch other players, cheer on the pro players, learn, meet other pickleball players and enjoy a few days of activity and perhaps even walk away with a medal or two.

Who can play in the tour events?
The tournaments are open to a wide range of ages and skills.
Divisions of play include 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, and Open and every tournament has both under 3.4 and over 3.5 skill ranges. Most have doubles, mixed doubles and singles, some also have skinny singles or team events.

Why play in the tour?
Organised by the Pickleball Association Queensland, these are sanctioned events, professionally managed and providing an ideal opportunity for players to learn, improve and compete across the state. They are well supported by players and sponsors, and provide a competitive environment to include and help players improve their skills.

How do I register?
Registration is via pickleballtournaments.com. You will need to be a member of your state association to sign in, and you can search for the QPT event there, then select your division and pay your entry fee. You can also indicate if you have a playing partner or wish to be paired up with one.

How do I choose the right division?
Divisions are broken into DUPR rankings and every tournaments has at least under 3.4 and over 3.5 skill levels, some have under 2.99 as well. For Doubles, you must sign up at the skill level of the higher-rated partner. If you are unsure, please contact PAQ or speak to your local club or coach for advice.

How do I prepare for a tournament?
Make sure you have checked the dates and location to arrange travel and accomodation early (many players like to house share for the weekend or travel together). Keep an eye on your email in the days leading up to the event so you know your start times. Arive early to find a park, sign in and visit the sponsors stands for special offers and opportunities to try new products/services. Take plenty of sunblock, hat, sunglasses, water bottles, electrolytes and your smile to enjoy the event. You may wish to take a camp chair to take a break between games.
